DOWN TO EARTH

YAY! This was a project from my first graphic design class about 3 years ago. That was my first go around at graphic design and it was pretty bad. So... I decided to redo my logo so I could use it in my portfolio now. Our project was to design a logo for an organic food store, then create an organic coffee advertisement for the store as well as a shopping bag. So now my next goal is to redo those projects as well. The color is a little bit more green than what shows here.

I <3 TYPOGRAPHY

I have wanted to do a typography portrait for a few years, but it was one of those things I never actually sat down to do. So finally I was bored today and did it! It didn't take near as long as I suspected. (only a few hours) I am thinking of using this as the poster for my BFA show... which isn't for another semester.

ALTERNATIVE LIGHTING

this week in my photo class we had an assignment about alternative lighting. We had to use 2 different sources of light. At first, I wasn't too excited about this project. I thought that it was limiting our creativity by putting that limitation on there. BUT, I am glad I did it and stuck it through! It put me out of my comfort zone, and made me try new techniques. Now I am excited about lighting, and think it makes a photograph look so much better! Anyways... here is what I came up with. You can click the image to view a larger version.

BANANORAMA

Bananorama-panorama! I have been working on panoramas lately... and this is the best one that came out. I really struggled with this assignment because you take multiple images (this one is 32 images) to develop your panorama. It is tough because as you are taking photos, it is hard to see what the final compilation of photos will look like together. Because of this it is hard to tell what the composition will end up looking like. The method that I took was to just take wayyyyy too many photos, to make sure I got all of the information I could possibly need, then I crop it later in photoshop.

I took this panorama in Bryan/College Station at a coffee shop called Revolution. It has this really cool mural that mimics a Van Gogh painting. The colors are off again... it doesn't look as washed out when printed or not compressed. Here it is, let me know what ya think:

east tx photos!

Here are some photos that I took for "The best of East Texas" photography contest on campus. Long story, but the competition was pretty lame. It was a popularity vote. The guy even said "bring your friends to vote for you!" BUT it was a great experience! My first design competition.

Here are some of the photos I submitted:

Scott's Helping Hands is a non-profit organization

McKinney Historical Run is a race that my boyfriend Elliot puts on every year. Next year will be the 5th annual 5K race! I have helped out with the design in just the past few years. It is a lot of fun to work with
him on this event together. I also helped with the website and the rest of the design needs. Visit the website: www.mckinneyhistoricalrun.com

MY FIRST POST!!!!

Hey! Welcome to my blog! I am excited to share the design work that I have been working on, and hopefully gain inspiration from other people's blogs as well! A little about myself: I am Jamie Goodrich, a Senior Advertising Design major, Photography minor, at Stephen F. Austin State University. I transferred after my sophomore year from Texas A&M University so that I could dive more into the art world and design! I was majoring in architecture, so it gave me a great diverse foundation for my designs.

I really love simple things in design and composition. I am eager to share my work! More posts coming soon!
